London Marathon 17th April 2011 Time: 4:19:57

Well as some of you probably know I am running the London Marathon in April, thanks to Axe Valley Runners, so I thought I would use the opportunity to raise some money for Charity.

The two charities I have chosen are The Devon Air Ambulance and SIFT. I would really appreciate any money you can spare to give to these worthwhile causes, more details of which are below.

Devon Air Ambulance.

The Devon Air Ambulance Trust is the charity which raises the funds to keep Devon's two Air Ambulances airborne. Costing in the region of £4 million a year, and independent of Government and National Lottery funding, every single penny comes from the community, businesses and friends of Devon.

Flying an average 1,700 missions a year, the service is an essential part of the community. Because Devon is a remote and rural county, essential medical treatment needs to be administered as quickly as possible. The service isn't only deployed to trauma or accidents, but also to medical emergencies. It's therefore reassuring to know that should you or a loved one be ill or injured one of Devon's Air Ambulances can reach 50% of Devon within 5 minutes and the remainder within 20 minutes.

This is very much a local charity that anyone in Devon could need at any time. It would be great if you could support this charity as I run. Thanks

SIFT - Seed International Fund Trust

Sift is also a local charity based in Seaton, but with an international outlook. Nicaragua is very poor country in central america. While we can rely on great health care and being able to visit the doctors when we need, and even have a helicopter available to rush us to hospital, life is different in Nicaragua.

Sift run a number of small clinics which provide health care and free medicines to rural communities.

To provide medicines, something we take for granted, for a whole community can be achieved for just £700 a month. It would be great if we could provide medicines for 2 weeks or even maybe a month, with your help.

Please sponsor me, Thank you.

Done it!! 4hrs 19 mins 57 seconds.

Went OK to 20 miles then felt really sick :( but made it to the finish :). Thank you for your support and help.

13th April 2011 :: 3 DAYS TO GO!!!!!!

Sponsorship up to £241.00 with 3 forms still to be returned. Thank you. Can we make it £300.00 or even £400.00?

Good run last night, with maybe a gentle jog to come on Thursday.

9th April 2011 :: Only 7 days to go!!!

All the long runs are completed and recovering for the big day. Just a few shorter sessions to go!

Have been away last week only managed one run. Did not know the area very well and ran towards the Somerset levels. The road looped round through 180 degrees and ended up on the top of the Polden hills. Is it because I am an Axe Valley runner that they just seem to find you.!

Any one else want to sponsor me?

25th March :: 23 days to go!

21.5 miles completed this morning and they felt really tough! I hope I feel better than that on Marathon day.

Off to Leicestershire this weekend so a chance to recover and no more training till Monday.

18th March :: 29 days to go!

Well the Grizzly has gone and I Survived! Next stop London.

Well, after lots more training anyway. I really enjoyed the grizzly and all the miles I put in really helped. Really pleased with my time of 3hrs 43 mins. Not bad for my first Grizzly.

The next couple of weeks are going to be really important to help with a good time in London. Under 4hrs would be great.

Thanks for your support everyone, up to £165 now!
